Hannah Perry (b.1993) works in the mediums of paintings, drawings, ceramics, sculptures, songs and landwork. She develops symbolic narratives through research and observation of ecological patterns. Her practice builds upon the interconnection between the natural world, storytelling and the divine; facilitated through the symbols of her own mythology. Most fluent in the realm of metaphor, she explores the teachings of the natural world, like adaptation and symbiosis as guidelines for regenerative societal healing.
Hannah’s practice is influenced by the resilience of people and plant life in urban spaces. Her work reflects on and is in collaboration with her work as an urban farmer in NYC, a practice built on food and land sovereignty and reciprocity. Her paintings and sculptures interrogate the notion of individualism by reminding us of our collective presence in ecological balance.
